Humanities Programme

The Programme offers an MSc in Scientific, Technical and Medical Translation with Translation Technology in a wide range of language pairs, including Greek-English. While the main focus is on various kinds of specialised translation, the programme also includes software and e-content localisation and places a strong emphasis on the use of translation technology where this is appropriate. Graduates of the MSc generally have no trouble finding work in the translation industry, while those for whom this is of interest can go on to study for a PhD in translation at Imperial.

Middlesex University Translation Institute

Translation provision at Middlesex University includes the BA (Honours) in Translation, the MA in the Theory and Practice of Translation, and PhD research supervision in a range of Translation Studies topics. Teaching focuses on (i) practice in translating a wide range of texts, (ii) Translation Theory and (iii) research training. The Translation Institute's own translation service provider, TEXTRA, along with undergraduate work placement modules, provides opportunities for all students to gain additional practical, professional experience and contacts.

School of Languages

The MA in Interpreting and Translating at the School of languages is designed to equip students with a range of practical skills and the theoretical input to work as professional translators. Students are offered work placements and carry out practical projects as part of the programme taught by academics that combine professional translating, academic and research expertise. Options available include Translation into and from Greek as well as audio-visual translation and business Interpreting. There are opportunities for progression to Doctoral level on completion of the MA.

Centre for Translation Studies

The Centre offers a full time MA in Translation and an MA in Audiovisual Translation between English and Greek, designed to equip language graduates with a comprehensive range of practical and theoretical skills needed to work as professional translators or subtitlers, or to pursue further research in Translation Studies on the doctoral programme. MA classes are taught by well-known academics—recognised specialists in their fields—who regularly publish in international journals, and by experienced professional translators and subtitlers who understand the needs of the market.

School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages

The university offers an MA in Bilingual Translation (Greek Main Language), aiming to train language specialists (new graduates as well as mature / experienced students with Greek as their main language) to a professional level in translation. The programme constitutes one of the most practical Greek translation courses offered in the UK. Core modules include technical and institutional translation and optional modules editing skills, literary translation and subtitling. An MA in Conference Interpreting Techniques (with a Greek into English option only) is also offered.
